Twenty Years of Lao Banzhang
Made from ancient-tree tea leaves sourced from the core Lao Banzhang tea region, this raw Pu-erh has been aged for twenty years. Time has transformed its youthful intensity into a deeper, more composed character, revealing mature sweetness, substantial texture, and layered aged aromas while retaining the distinctive depth of ancient-tree Lao Banzhang.

Appearance
The cake is round, evenly proportioned, and moderately compressed, with a clearly defined central indentation and clean, intact edges. Thick, tightly formed tea strands are evenly distributed with visible golden tips, while the surface displays a glossy brown color shaped by years of ageing.

Aroma Tea Liquor
Once brewed, the tea produces a clear, bright amber liquor. A mature aged-wood aroma forms the foundation, layered with rich honey, gentle camphor, orchid, soft woody notes, dried jujube, and subtle herbal nuances reminiscent of dried medicinal roots. The overall fragrance is restrained, integrated, and complex.

Taste Finish
The liquor is rich, full-bodied, and remarkably smooth, with a dense, silky texture and no coarse astringency or throat dryness. Mellow aged sweetness develops through the middle infusions, followed by slow, persistent returning sweetness and steady salivation.

The finish is deep and moist, with sweetness gradually building across the tongue and throat. A lingering combination of aged fragrance and sweetness remains after each sip, creating a long, warm, and composed aftertaste.

The Fung Tea Documentary

A Legacy Crafted Through Time

Journey from Yunnan’s tea mountains to the people, places and traditions that have shaped Fung Tea for more than forty years. Discover the origins, craftsmanship and enduring values behind our story.

Twenty Years In The Making

A Collector’s Raw Pu-erh Shaped By Time

Two decades of aging cannot be hurried. Crafted from Yunnan large-leaf sun-dried maocha from Menghai, Xishuangbanna, this raw Pu-erh has undergone twenty years of gradual transformation, allowing time to soften its youthful intensity while revealing greater depth, harmony, and aromatic complexity.

What began as vigorous mountain-grown tea has matured into a composed expression of aged raw Pu-erh, carrying the character of its original material alongside the unmistakable presence of time. From the evolving fragrance to the increasingly rounded liquor and lingering returning sweetness, every infusion offers another chapter in a journey that began twenty years ago.

A Legacy Since 1983

Four Decades Of Knowledge Behind One Tea

The experience behind this tea reaches back to 1983, when a lifelong relationship with Yunnan Pu-erh first began to take shape in Menghai. From early immersion in traditional tea production to decades spent understanding tea mountains, raw materials, craftsmanship, and long-term transformation, more than forty years of accumulated knowledge inform the creation and selection of this tea.

Such experience becomes especially meaningful in aged Pu-erh, where decisions made decades earlier continue to reveal themselves in the cup today. The quality of the original leaf, the precision of the processing, and the understanding of how a tea may evolve over time all contribute to what it ultimately becomes.

This is not simply tea that has been kept for twenty years. It is tea created with the understanding that its true character would take years to fully emerge.

Crafted For The Passage Of Time

Traditional Methods, Preserved With Purpose

Exceptional aged Pu-erh begins long before aging itself. The freshly harvested leaves are carefully processed using traditional methods designed to preserve their natural character and long-term potential.

During fixation, heat is carefully controlled to protect the vitality of the leaf. Rolling is performed with measured pressure, opening the leaf structure without compromising its integrity. The tea is then naturally sun-dried, preserving the distinctive qualities of Yunnan large-leaf tea while creating the foundation for gradual transformation over many years.

Each stage serves a purpose beyond the immediate cup. The craftsmanship must allow the tea to retain enough strength, substance, and character to continue evolving long after production is complete.

Two Decades Of Transformation

Where Patience Becomes Part Of The Craft

For 20 years, this tea has been allowed to transform gradually through careful dry aging. Time has softened the sharper edges associated with youthful raw Pu-erh, allowing the liquor to become more rounded and the fragrance to move toward a deeper, calmer, and more integrated expression.

Yet meaningful aging is not simply about becoming softer. The finest transformations preserve the underlying vitality of the original tea while adding layers that could not have existed at the beginning.

Here, maturity and strength coexist. The tea has developed the composed character of age without losing the structure and persistence that allow it to continue unfolding across repeated infusions. The result is a cup defined not by age alone, but by what twenty years have brought out of the original material.

The Character Revealed Before Brewing

Mature Leaves With A Naturally Refined Luster

The cake presents a full, balanced form with moderate compression and clearly visible leaf material throughout its surface. After two decades of aging, the leaves have developed deep brown and dark chestnut tones, accompanied by a subtle natural luster that speaks to their gradual transformation.

The structure remains composed rather than overly compact, allowing the integrity of the individual leaves to remain visible. The surface is clean and naturally mature, carrying the quiet visual character associated with well-aged raw Pu-erh.

Before water ever meets the leaf, the cake already offers a first impression of its age, craftsmanship, and condition.

A Liquor Transformed By Twenty Years

Luminous Amber, Deepened By Age

As the leaves open, the liquor develops into a rich amber-red hue, clear, luminous, and substantial in appearance. The brightness remains present beneath the deeper tone, creating a beautiful balance between maturity and clarity.

This color is one of the visible signatures of long-term transformation. The lighter expression of younger raw Pu-erh has gradually deepened over the years, reflecting the slow changes taking place within the leaf.

In the cup, the liquor carries a sense of density without heaviness, offering both visual richness and the refined transparency expected from carefully aged tea.

An Aroma Only Time Can Create

Mature Fragrance With A Lingering Orchid Grace

The fragrance begins with the composed depth of aged raw Pu-erh, calm and settled rather than sharp or overtly youthful. Beneath this mature character, delicate orchid-like notes gradually emerge, adding lift and elegance to the aromatic profile.

Twenty years of aging have allowed the greener aromas of young tea to recede, giving way to a fragrance that feels deeper, warmer, and increasingly integrated.

As the infusions progress, the aroma continues to open rather than disappearing quickly. Mature notes intertwine with subtle floral character, creating a layered fragrance that lingers in the cup and evolves alongside the tea itself.

Depth Without Heaviness

Silken, Full-Bodied And Endlessly Unfolding

The first impression is one of texture. The liquor enters smoothly, with a rounded and substantial body shaped by twenty years of gradual transformation. The assertiveness once associated with younger raw Pu-erh has become more restrained, yet the tea retains an underlying strength that gives each infusion structure and presence.

As the liquor settles across the palate, a returning sweetness begins to emerge. It develops progressively rather than immediately, becoming more apparent after each sip and continuing into the finish.

Through the middle infusions, the tea becomes increasingly expansive and layered, balancing aged depth with lingering sweetness and a composed sense of vitality. The finish is long and unhurried, encouraging the drinker to remain with the tea rather than simply move on to the next cup.

Twenty Years, Yet Still Alive

The Leaf Reveals The Quality Within

After repeated infusions, the leaves remain supple, resilient, and clearly defined. Their veins remain visible, their structure intact, and their texture retains a remarkable sense of life despite twenty years of transformation.

For an aged Pu-erh, the infused leaf offers an important glimpse into the quality of the original material. Aging may deepen color and alter aroma, but it cannot create substance where none existed.

The enduring flexibility and vitality of these leaves reflect both the strength of the material at the beginning and the care taken throughout its processing and maturation. Even after two decades, the tea continues to show the foundation from which its character was built.

Created To Be Remembered

A Tea For The Collection, A Gift Of Time

Some teas are made for everyday drinking. Others are chosen because they carry a story that cannot be recreated.

This twenty-year aged raw Pu-erh belongs to the latter. Its value lies in the meeting of origin, craftsmanship, maturity, and time itself. What exists in the cake today began taking shape two decades ago, and that passage of time has become inseparable from the tea.

Presented in refined packaging, it is equally suited to a serious personal collection or as a meaningful gift for someone who understands the significance of aged Pu-erh. It may be opened now and appreciated for the maturity it has already achieved, or kept carefully as it continues its journey.

A tea of this nature is not simply consumed. It is experienced, remembered, and, for the collector, preserved as a record of time.
