Auspicious Forms is a collection of compact handcrafted tea trays shaped around traditional Chinese forms associated with harmony, fulfilment, prosperity and good wishes. Crafted from Moso bamboo, each piece creates a defined resting place for a teapot, gaiwan, teacup or small tea-table object while introducing the warmth and natural grain of bamboo into the tea setting.

Each tray combines a smoothly finished Moso bamboo frame with a fitted bamboo mat insert. The tray body remains the same natural bamboo construction across all variants, while the bamboo mat is available in two different colours. This allows the overall form and structure to remain consistent while giving the centre of the tray either a lighter or deeper visual character.

The closely spaced strips allow the bamboo mat to let water and occasional spilled tea pass through quickly rather than collect around the teaware above. This makes the trays particularly practical for Gongfu brewing, where warming vessels, rinsing teaware, and pouring away excess water are a natural part of the tea session.

The raised bamboo surround helps contain water within the tray while visually framing the vessel placed inside. Beneath the bamboo mat, the solid bamboo base gives the piece stability and structure. Together, the layered construction creates a lighter, more refined appearance than a heavy solid-wood tea tray while still giving the teaware a defined and deliberate place on the table.

The collection is offered in nine forms, each bringing its own visual character and, in several cases, a traditional auspicious meaning.

Fulu (福祿) expresses the wish for good fortune and prosperity. Offered in both small and large proportions, its rounded form works naturally beneath individual cups, gaiwans or smaller teapots.

Yuanman (圓滿) means completeness and fulfilment. Its balanced rounded silhouette creates a calm, centred presentation for a single brewing vessel or teacup.

Liuhe (六合) traditionally refers to the six directions — heaven, earth and the four cardinal directions — and by extension conveys a sense of harmony and completeness. Its more structured outline gives the tea table a composed architectural character.

Ruyi (如意) means “as one wishes” and is one of the most enduring auspicious ideas in Chinese decorative culture. The Ruyi Square and Ruyi Rectangle trays translate this symbolism into two practical formats, one compact and one elongated for arranging multiple smaller tea objects.

The Begonia (海棠) designs draw from the softly lobed outline of the begonia flower. Available in rounded and squarer interpretations, they introduce gentle curvature without becoming overly decorative. The Cloud (雲朵) form offers a softer flowing silhouette inspired by traditional cloud imagery.

The bamboo mat is available in two colour finishes. Natural Bamboo color keeps the centre light and warm, allowing the bamboo texture to remain visually prominent. Sandalwood Tone gives the bamboo mat a deeper, more subdued appearance that creates stronger contrast against the surrounding natural bamboo frame.

Their compact scale makes these trays especially useful as individual brewing trays within a larger Gongfu tea arrangement. A teapot or gaiwan can rest directly above the bamboo mat while rinse water and occasional spills are directed away from the vessel, helping maintain a cleaner and more composed tea setting.

Handcrafted from natural bamboo, each tray may show individual variations in grain, tone and surface texture. These differences are part of the character of the material rather than imperfections.
