The Auspicious Forms collection brings together a series of compact dry tea trays shaped around traditional Chinese forms associated with harmony, fulfilment and auspicious wishes. Each piece pairs a naturally textured stone surface with a dark bamboo-edged frame, creating a grounded resting place for a teapot, gaiwan, fairness pitcher or teacups.

A dry tea tray (乾泡盤) is designed for a more controlled style of Gongfu brewing, where only small amounts of rinse water or tea are used around the vessels rather than being poured freely across a large drainage tray. Its purpose is to define the brewing area, catch occasional droplets and give the principal teaware a composed place on the tea table.

The different forms draw from familiar motifs in Chinese decorative culture. Fulu (福祿) expresses the wish for good fortune and prosperity, while Ruyi (如意) literally carries the idea of things unfolding “as one wishes”. Yuanman (圓滿) conveys completeness and fulfilment, reflected in its balanced rounded silhouette. The Cloud (雲朵) form takes inspiration from auspicious cloud imagery, long used to suggest favourable circumstances and good fortune. The Begonia (海棠) designs borrow the softly lobed outline of the flower, introducing a gentler, more ornamental rhythm to the collection.

These meanings are expressed through form rather than added decoration. The restrained outlines allow the natural stone itself to remain the focus, with irregular mineral grain, subtle colour variation and a tactile surface that differs slightly from piece to piece.

The dark bamboo-style edging follows the contour of each tray, framing the stone while softening its naturally rugged appearance. Rounded, square and elongated proportions allow different styles to suit different tea arrangements, from a single teapot or gaiwan to a small grouping of cups and accessories.

Because the stone surface varies naturally in tone, grain and patterning, no two trays will appear exactly alike. These differences are part of the material character of the piece, giving each Auspicious Forms tray a quiet individuality while preserving the same restrained visual language across the collection.
