Lotus Weave | Jacquard Tea Mat & Coaster Collection

Lotus Weave brings the traditional scrolling lotus motif (纏枝蓮) into a refined textile setting for the tea table. Woven over a deep blue-black ground with warm gold-toned floral detailing, the collection includes a six-piece square coaster set together with two rectangular tea-mat sizes, allowing the same decorative language to carry from an individual cup setting to a complete Gongfu tea arrangement.

The surface is finished with a jacquard-woven scrolling lotus pattern, meaning the design is formed directly through the weave rather than printed onto the fabric. Lotus blossoms, curling leaves and continuous vines move across the textile in a dense repeating composition, giving the pattern greater depth and a restrained lustre as light moves across the surface.

The scrolling lotus, known in Chinese as Chanzhilian (纏枝蓮), is one of the enduring motifs of Chinese decorative arts. Its vines continue without a clear beginning or end, linking successive blossoms together in a flowing composition. This continuous growth has traditionally been associated with continuity, abundance and enduring good fortune.

A tea mat (茶席) creates a defined textile surface beneath the principal objects of a tea session. It can be placed under a teapot, gaiwan, fairness pitcher and cups to visually organise the brewing area while adding a softer layer between the teaware and table beneath. The rectangular formats provide enough space for either a compact arrangement or a broader multi-vessel setting.

The smaller square coasters (杯墊) perform the same role at an individual scale. Sold as a set of six, they provide a coordinated resting place beneath individual teacups, helping protect the tabletop from light moisture and everyday contact while extending the scrolling-lotus pattern across each place setting.

Each piece is reversible. The patterned side presents the gold-toned scrolling lotus design, while the reverse is finished in a plain deep blue textile for a quieter presentation. This allows the same piece to shift between a decorative and more restrained tea-table setting according to preference.

Concealed edge stitching gives the mats a clean perimeter without prominent exposed seams, while the textile remains flexible enough to roll for storage when not in use. The combination of dark ground, warm woven ornament and softly structured fabric allows the collection to complement both richly decorated teaware and quieter ceramic forms.
