Inspired by the quiet clarity of a sky after rain, the Rainwashed Sky Tea Set combines traditional Jingdezhen porcelain craftsmanship with a restrained landscape design in soft white and misty blue.
The decoration evokes distant mountains, drifting clouds, and the calm atmosphere of Jiangnan scenery. Pale blue tones gather softly around the base of each piece, while delicate mountain silhouettes and translucent Linglong details appear across the porcelain, giving the set a light and spacious character.
Traditional Linglong openwork is incorporated into the teapot, fairness pitcher and teacups. Small patterns are carefully formed in the porcelain and filled with translucent glaze before firing, allowing light to pass softly through the finished surface. The effect becomes particularly visible when the pieces are held against the light.
The teapot is designed with a built-in multi-hole filter to help keep loose leaves inside while producing a clean pour. A small air vent in the lid helps balance pressure during pouring, while the sculpted cloud-shaped handle and lid detail continue the set’s understated design.
A matching fairness pitcher provides an even way to distribute brewed tea between cups, while the removable tea strainer and strainer holder offer additional filtration when needed. Six coordinating teacups complete the set, each shaped for a comfortable hold and finished with the same subtle landscape and Linglong detailing.
Fine gold-toned accents along selected rims provide a restrained finishing touch against the soft porcelain palette.

Its ceramic tradition stretches back more than 2000 years, with over a thousand years of official kiln history and more than six centuries of imperial kiln production. From the luminous qingbai porcelain of the Song dynasty to the celebrated blue-and-white porcelain of the Yuan dynasty, and later the highly sophisticated works of the Ming and Qing imperial kilns, Jingdezhen continually advanced both technique and artistic expression. Its porcelain became admired for its refinement, translucency and craftsmanship, earning the city its enduring reputation as China’s “Porcelain Capital”.

Before firing, the porcelain must be allowed to dry gradually and evenly. Rows of unfinished vessels rest in the open air, giving remaining moisture time to leave the body before it enters the kiln. Even at this quiet stage, patience remains part of the craft.

The Final Transformation
Firing is the moment when clay, glaze and craftsmanship are permanently transformed into porcelain. Inside the kiln, carefully controlled heat changes the structure of the body and fuses the glaze to its surface, revealing the colour, translucency and character that were only anticipated during the earlier stages.
In traditional Jingdezhen production, kiln firing demands close attention to temperature, atmosphere and timing. Even after every previous step has been completed with precision, the final result is only revealed once the kiln has cooled and the pieces are removed. Jingdezhen’s traditional porcelain-making process culminates in kiln firing, with each stage depending closely on the one before it.
